Budapest, 11 January 2023 – The reconstruction of metro line M3 is entering a new phase: on 23 January, the Ferenciek tere and Deák Ferenc tér stations will be opened to passenger traffic. After that, the metro will be open from Kőbánya-Kispest to Deák Ferenc tér, making the city centre, the M1 underground and the M2 metro line accessible from South Pest without having to change trains. A replacement bus service will continue to run between Deák Ferenc tér and Göncz Árpád városközpont, and trains will not stop at Nagyvárad tér due to the station reconstruction. The reconstruction of the whole line is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2023.
The Ferenciek tere and Deák Ferenc tér metro stations will be opened to passengers in the early afternoon of Monday 23 January. After the opening, the metro will run from South Pest to Deák Ferenc tér. On the day of the opening, 23 January, replacement buses will still run to Kálvin tér during the day, and from 9:00 pm onwards, replacement buses will run to Kőbánya-Kispest in the evening, as usual.

The reconstruction of metro line M3 started in autumn 2017 on the northern section of the line. During the reconstruction, the infrastructure of Hungary's busiest railway line will be completely renewed and the stations will be made accessible and modernised, creating almost a new metro in Budapest.
The reconstruction will be completed in the second quarter of 2023, and the metro is expected to be fully operational by mid-March, with the last stations to be reconstructed, Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér, open to passengers from mid-May.
