Completion of the reconstruction of metro line M3
As of 13 May 2023, metro replacement services were canceled, only the stations of Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér were served by substitute services.
With the handover of the last two stations to be reconstructed – Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér – on 22 May 2023, the reconstruction of the metro line was completed, so that metro can now travel between Újpest-központ and Kőbánya-Kispest on the entire line, stopping at all stations.

The closing phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
With the opening of two renewed downtown stations – Arany János utca and Nyugati pályaudvar – on 20 March 2023, the reconstruction entered its final stage, so that trains can now be used on the entire line between Újpest-központ and Kőbánya-Kispest.
The reconstruction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023, with the use of metro replacement buses and other alternative services in the middle section (now only on weekends) of the line during the reconstruction works and to access Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér stations.

The last phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
With the handover of two renewed downtown stations – Deák Ferenc tér, Ferenciek tere – metro reconstruction entered the last phase on 23 January 2023.
The reconstruction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023, with the use of metro replacement buses and other alternative services in the middle section of the line during the works.

The last phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
With the handover of three renewed downtown stations – Kálvin tér, Corvin-negyed, Semmelweis Klinikák – and the closure of the Dózsa György út, Lehel tér, Nagyvárad tér stations, the last phase of the metro reconstruction started on 14 May 2022.
The reconstruction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023, with the use of metro replacement buses and other alternative services in the middle section of the line during the works.

Third phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
The reconstruction works started on the 7th of March 2020 by closing Arany János utca and Ferenciek tere stations.
The third phase of the reconstruction works will be expected to finish until 2023 first quarter, and during this time metro replacement buses, direct bus services as well as other replacement services will operate on this section:
– On workdays and weekends metro operates the line between Újpest-központ and Lehel tér and between Nagyvárad tér and Kőbánya-Kispest. On the remaining section between Lehel tér and Nagyvárad tér stations metro replacement services are available.

Second phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
The reconstruction works started on the 6th of April 2019 by closing all the stations between the southern terminus Kőbánya-Kispest and Nagyvárad tér station.
The second phase of the reconstruction works will be expected to finish until 2020 third quarter, and during this time metro replacement buses, direct bus services as well as suburban services will operate on this section:
– On workdays metro operates the line between Újpest-központ and Nagyvárad tér. Between Nagyvárad tér and Kőbánya-Kispest stations metro replacement services are available.
– On Saturdays and Sundays metro runs between Újpest-központ and Lehel tér. Between Lehel tér and Kőbánya-Kispest stations metro replacement services are available.

The handover of the southern section to passengers took place on October 22, 2020.

First phase of the reconstruction of metro line M3
The reconstruction works started on the 6th of May 2017 by closing all the stations between the northern terminus Újpest-Központ and Lehel tér station.
The first phase of the reconstruction works will take about a year, and during this time metro replacement buses and trams will operate on this section:
– On workdays until 20:30 the metro operates on a shortened route between Kőbánya-Kispest and Lehel tér. After 20:30 metro replacement buses will serve the passengers on the whole section of metro line M3.
– On Saturdays and Sundays metro replacement buses will operate on the whole section of metro line M3.

The handover of the northern section to passengers took place on March 30, 2019.
For the buses temporary terminuses and stations were set up, and some changes were made in the schedules to sustain and improve public transport. These include the modification of the timing of traffic lights and creating temporary bus lanes.
