The reconstruction of metro line M3 is entering its final phase, with trains running on the entire line from spring 2023. Soon, on 15 August, the eight-week-long track closure between the Göncz Árpád városközpont and the Kőbánya-Kispest stations will end. During the closure, work is carried out on a longer-term basis, requiring a permanent shutdown, the most important of which are the reconstruction of the Lehel tér detour area and the renovation of the workstation in the dispatching building on Szabó Ervin tér. The following summary gives an insight into what happened at the end of June.
The installation of elevators at the Dózsa György út station is part of the retrofitting of the station. Lehel tér and Nagyvárad tér are being reconstructed in the final phase. Previously these stations were used for transfers, so demolition work is still underway, as well as insulation repairs and asbestos removal.
At the stations of Nyugati pályaudvar, Arany János utca, Deák Ferenc tér, Ferenciek tere, the installation of escalators and the construction of the inclined elevators are progressing at different speeds, with some sites still in the preparatory phase and others already completed. The installation of the mechanical systems and the structural design and even the installation of the enclosures are taking place in parallel.
In the following gallery and video summary you can see what is happening on the construction sites.
