Almost all phases of the reconstruction can be observed at the downtown stations of metro line M3. Demolition work has been completed almost everywhere, and construction processes are progressing at a different pace. All this is particularly noticeable on the downtown section under reconstruction heading from north to south. The most significant moment is that the first incline elevator has already been installed in Kálvin tér, which will ensure barrier-free access at the station. This structure will be the first to be used by passengers on the six renewed stations of the blue metro line.
While in the section between Nyugati pályaudvar and Ferenciek tere stations the preparation of the installation of incline elevators and new escalator structures is underway, the architectural design in the operational areas is nearing completion, in some places the installation of the equipment is already happening.
Due to the early handover of Kálvin tér, Corvin-negyed and Semmelweis Klinikák stations planned for next spring, the changes are more noticeable month by month. The power supply of the stations is already provided by the new transformers and the new electrical switch rooms. The main ventilation equipment and the cable support systems have already been installed, and the final design of the electrical network is currently being carried out. Almost every new escalator has been put in place, and the cabin and structure of the first incline elevator can already be seen in Kálvin tér. The ÁDI, ie the station dispatcher room, have been completed. Floor and side wall coverings, suspended ceiling installations can be seen in the passenger areas, and the final image appearances are slowly emerging.
In the tunnel, the trains are already running on the renewed left track and the right track is being replaced – on some sections the new rails have already been installed.
The importance of metro line M3 is known to all those involved in ist reconstruction. We work together according to a strict schedule and organization plan to ensure that the blue metro can be used by the passengers as soon as possible. The stations of Kálvin tér, Corvin-negyed, Semmelweis Klinikák will be opened to passenger traffic in the spring of 2022, and we are examining the possibility of early handover of the Deák Ferenc tér station. Our passengers are expected to travel on the entire M3 metro line in the first quarter of 2023.
