New escalators, rebuilt rooms, modern electrical and mechanical equipment characterize the stations of the downtown section of metro line M3 currently under renonstruction. At the end of May, the modernization of the railway track on the left side at Nagyvárad tér metro station also started. Reconstruction work is progressing according to the planned schedule.

Although metro traffic is suspended at the seven downtown stations for the time being, important reconstruction tasks are also being carried out at the two gallery-structured stations – Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér. The shaft of the elevator is being built in Nagyvárad tér, and the demolition of the railway track has also started on one side, which will limit the area of the station, but will not affect traffic yet. In Lehel tér, complex demolition work is taking place behind the enclosed construction sites.

Walking from Nagyvárad tér to the Nyugati pályaudvar (Western railway station), the track shows a varied picture, in some places the rails have completely disappeared, in some places there seemingly unreasonably many lying next to each other – as all the rails have been delivered – and we can find a section where the rail width is already being adjusted.

At the Semmelweis Klinikák and Corvin-negyed stations, the most significant change can be seen in the inclined downhill area, with the installation of new escalators, three of which are already in place. In accordance with safety regulations, water mist extinguishing equipment is added to the structures.

Of the 27 escalators that previously served passengers, 24 have already been completely dismantled and transported. Demolition and construction are being carried out at each station at the same time. The station dispatch rooms are slowly taking on their final shape and the interior design will also start soon. The delivery of new special mechanical equipment is also nearing completion. Injections are made in the main ventilation tunnels, and in some places the assembly of the fans has already been completed.

At the Deák Ferenc tér station, the most significant thing is the structural reconstruction. In the passage, connecting the M2 and M3 metro lines, the rectangular brick wall is demolished to make the original pipe structure visible after the reconstruction, thus expanding the feeling of space. The corridor of the elevator – providing barrier-free access – has already connected to the platform level.
